Glove on Envelope

Here I used biro pen on top of an envelope to create an image that is sort of festive without being too flashy. I feel that there is a story behind this image, this piece symbolising the effort and love people go to in order to deliver Christmas cards. Facing the weather in such a modern world where a simple text or email would replace the tradition of exchanging Christmas cards, I feel that this shows the compassion people still have for each other today in a world that is becoming more digitalised.

Bits and Bobs

So I decided to just grab a biro pen and a few scrap pieces of paper and just doodle some random small objects that I found lying around the house. I think these are really successful and makes the viewer focus on the intricate details of such small objects that they would normally overlook in everyday life.

Washing Up Liquid Bottle

It's finally done!! i think I have achieved a really delicate and refined approach in this piece, particularly considering it was done with biro pen. Whenever I use ballpoint pens I always get nervous that I am going to mess up and that it can't be erased but I stayed very focused the entire duration of this study. Crosshatching and overlaying the marks made by different coloured pens allowed me to blend the colours successfully and create a three dimensional sense through giving the impression of where the light is hitting the object. This relates to my soap theme because it focuses on how people usually look at the shiny and beautiful appearance of soaps and what they achieve without considering what chemicals actually go into the making of the cleaning product.

Soapy

I don't normally go into a drawing without having something in mind as to how it's going to turn out, despite that, this attempt at what I call a process or blind drawing worked out really well! I made up what I drew as I went so long as it was relevant to the overall theme of the piece. The end result looks something very graffiti-like as it is a mixture of lots of different ideas and imagery that I added over a few days. I like the juxtaposition of the untidy composition and urban style with the theme of cleanliness. I think this is a process of drawing that I would definitely try out again in the future, especially when I'm stuck for ideas.

Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad

This illustration took a long time but I think it was worth it, I think I've used light really effectively here. I can't wait for Suicide Squad to come out!!

Zombie Cheerleader

So here's a little peek into one of my sketchbooks, I was trying out some new markers then got into this cool idea of a zombie cheerleader. I did some notes by the side of the character to describe her but I think the drawing really grabs all the attention. I love how I've managed to get the highlights on the lips, nose and in the eyes.

Harley Quinn!

In this image I used pens to produce an illustration of my favourite comic book character. I think that the colours in this drawing really 'pop' and reflect the neon colour scheme of the upcoming film Suicide Squad.

Zombie X-ray

Here I wanted to do something really different, I sketched out some cartoon organs and pictured what they would look like if they were 'zombified'. I feel that I have taken an idea that would normally be considered gruesome and have turned it into something colourful and fun.

The Moon is so Far Out

This design is a combination of the previous designs, using the hand drawn illustrations and typography on top of photography. I used photographs of marbles to create the imagery of planets to further emphasise the theme of the design.

Astronaut Design

This illustration is on top of an edited image of marbled paper that I scanned into the computer. I love the combination of the pastel blues and pinks in this piece, the psychedelic swirled background creates a really 'trippy' effect and reflects the art style of the 1960s during which the first moon landing took place.

Out Of This World!

I compiled a lot of scanned images of marbled paper to create a groovy swirled texture behind the linear work of the typography, like the yeti ice cream design I wanted to make the text look as if it is dripping and the blending of the colours adds to the texture.

Yeti Ice Cream!

In this design I wanted to create a psychedelic styled advertisement for an invented product. I'm really proud of how I made the typography look as if it is dripping like melting ice cream. I used a pastel colour palette to reflect the frosty theme of the design and think that this has worked well. I also think the ice cream looks really cute!!
